New Light on the 10 Commandments

We want to present to you new light regarding the 10 Commandments, which are the Law of God. You probably haven’t heard what we are going to present to you […]

A Lesson From the Grass Part 2 of 2

One more lesson of encouragement may be learned from the frailty of man, which shows that only in humility is true exaltation found. Since all things come from God, man can be at his highest state only when he gladly acknowledges that he is nothing, and yields to the loving power of God.

Time is Short: An Appeal To Give Your Heart To God!

The time so long waited for by God’s people is almost here, the Second Coming of Christ. Soon it will be too late to give your heart completely to God, and prepare for the Second Coming. Do you not hear Him calling to your heart now? Have you put off doing or forgotten anything that God has asked you to do? Have you lost your first love for Him? Jesus and the Father greatly love you, and are even now calling to your heart to yield yourself to their love, and receive help and mercy while they still can be found. Why not give your heart to Him now?

A Lesson From the Grass Part 1 of 2

There could be no more sure way to undermine the Gospel, and rob it of its power, than the substitution of the teachings of "Science falsely so called" for the simple word of God. God has been relegated to the rear, and is regarded as afar off. So, although many did accept that Gospel which is preached to them, and do sincerely wish salvation from sin, evolution, even though they have no conscious belief in it, has so taken the edge off of faith that they are not able to come close to the Lord, to walk and talk with Him, and to make Him an active Factor in every affair of life.

Behold What Manner of Love

It is such an amazing thing that God would not only want to save us, but would want to make us one of His sons or daughters! We will never deserve the honor and blessings that God wants to lavish on us, but they are ours, if we will only claim them, and let Him qualify us. God not only wants to forgive us, but He wants to purify us, to make us like His Son Jesus! Yes, He has bestowed on us the honor to be His son or daughter! But all who would be His son or daughter must let Him purify them, even as He is pure. Is this your hope, to be the son or daughter of God? Then let the Holy Spirit fill you, and change you to be like Him, so that when Jesus the Son of God appears in the clouds with great glory, you will see Him as He is, because you adore Him, and not shrink back in fear. Matthew 24:29-31; 26:64. Hebrews 10:39.

Living by Faith Part 4 of 5: FROM FAITH TO FAITH

But there is another expression in the text which stands at the beginning of this tract: "For therein [in the gospel] is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith." This expression has been the subject of much learned discussion by theologians, and very few of them are agreed as to its meaning. The fact that learned men are disagreed in regard to it, need not frighten us from it with the thought that it cannot be understood, for we read that things hidden from the wise and prudent are revealed unto babes. If we are but simple enough to accept the obvious Scripture meaning, as explained by the Scriptures, we need not be in darkness.

Living by Faith Part 3 of 5: OUR MIGHTY LEADER

Well, our Captain is the Lord of Hosts. He has met the chiefest foe of all and has vanquished him single handed. Those who follow Him invariably go forth conquering and to conquer. Oh, that those who profess to be His followers would put their trust in Him, and then, by the repeated victories that they would gain, they would show forth the praises of Him who has called them out of darkness into His marvelous light!

Living by Faith Part 2 of 5: A CAUSE OF FAILURE

We have heard many people tell how hard they found it to do right; their Christian life was most unsatisfactory to them, being marked only by failure, and they were tempted to give up in discouragement. No wonder they get discouraged; continual failure is enough to discourage anybody. The bravest soldier in the world would become faint-hearted if he had been defeated in every battle. Sometimes these persons will mournfully tell that they have about lost confidence in themselves. But if they would only lose confidence in themselves entirely, and would put their whole trust in the One who is mighty to save, they would have a different story to tell. They would then "joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Says the apostle, "Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I say, Rejoice." Phil. 4:4. The man who doesn't rejoice in God, even though tempted and afflicted, is not fighting the good fight of faith. He is fighting the poor fight of self-confidence and defeat.

Living by Faith Part 1 of 5: LIVING BY FAITH

What Lack I Yet?

“And, behold, one came and said unto Him, ‘Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?’ And He said unto him, ‘Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.’ He saith unto him, ‘Which?’ Jesus said, ‘Thou shalt do no murder, thou shalt not commit adultery, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not bear false witness, honour thy father and thy mother: and, thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.’ The young man saith unto Him, ‘All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?’ Jesus said unto him, ‘If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.’ But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.” Matthew 19:16-22 KJV.

This rich young man did not have the love for others that he should have had. He claimed that he was keeping all of God’s commandments, but Jesus plainly stated that we need to ‘love our neighbor as ourselves,’ in Matthew 22:39, and in Mark 12:31, which includes helping the poor. And Moses revealed this truth that we are to help the poor too: “If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs.” Deuteronomy 15:7-8 NKJV. If this young man had been willing to give to the poor, and to follow Jesus, this would have proved to be the remedy for his soul! If he would have had God’s Spirit in his heart or wanted to have God’s Spirit in his heart, he would have willingly done this. After thinking about it, he went away sorrowful, because it wasn’t worth it to him to give up all of his possessions to love his neighbor as himself
