A very wonderful book on faith: on Christ and His Righteousness. 75 pages. Introduction:
In the first verse of the third chapter of Hebrews we have an exhortation which comprehends all the injunctions given to the Christian. It is this: "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus." To do this as the Bible enjoins, to consider Christ continually and intelligently, just as He is, will transform one into a perfect Christian, for "by beholding we become changed."
Ministers of the Gospel have an inspired warrant for keeping the theme, Christ, continually before the people, and directing the attention of the people to Him alone. Paul said to the Corinthians, "I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified" (1 Cor. 2:2); and there is no reason to suppose that his preaching to the Corinthians was different in any respect from his preaching elsewhere.Indeed, he tells us that when God revealed His Son in him, it was that he might preach Him among the heathen (Gal. 1:15, 16); and his joy was that to him grace had been given to "preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ." Eph. 3:8.
Nothing can take the place of the Scriptures themselves. If all would study the Bible as prayerfully and as conscientiously as they ought, giving earnest heed to every word, and receiving it as coming directly from God, there would be no need of any other religious book.
Whatever is written should be for the purpose of calling people's attention more sharply to the words of Scripture; whatever substitutes any man's opinions for the Bible, so that by it people are led to rest content without any further study of the Bible itself, is worse than useless. The reader is, therefore, most earnestly urged to study, first of all, the Scripture text very diligently and carefully, so that every reference to it will be a reference to a familiar acquaintance.May God grant that this little aid to the study of the Word may make every reader better acquainted with all Scripture, which is able to make him wise unto salvation.

Our Sins Purchased.
Christ "gave Himself for our sins."That is to say, He bought them, and paid the price for them. This is a simple statement of fact; the language used is that commonly employed in referring to purchases. "How much did you give for it?" or, "How much do you want for it?" are frequent questions. When we hear a man say that he gave so much for a certain thing, what do we at once know? -- We know that that thing belongs to him, because he has bought it.So when the Holy Spirit tells us that Christ gave Himself for our sins, of what should we be equally sure? -- That He has bought our sins, and that they belong to Him, and not to us.They are ours no longer, and we have no right to them. Every time we sin we are robbing the Lord, for we must remember that Christ has purchased not merely the specific acts of sin that we have committed, and that are in the past, but the sins that are in us, and which break forth. In this faith there is righteousness.
He Has Bought Us, Too. This follows from the fact that He has purchased our sins, to deliver us from ourselves. Our sins are part of ourselves; nay, they are the whole of us, for our natural lives are nothing but sin. Therefore, Christ could not buy our sins without buying us also.
John Foll: This book has had a very great impact on my life! This book and its stories from the Bible, led me to fall in love with God, there is no other way of putting it. I believe God had been working in my life prior to this to get me to this point. But until I fell in love with Him, I didn’t have the power from Him and the joy that I now have. The thing I was lacking in my life, was given to me after I learned how much He loved me in “The Everlasting Covenant” by E. J. Waggoner.
Introduction: The Desire of all Nations: But although the Gospel is first of all to the poor, it is not something mean and ignoble.Christ became poor that we might become rich. The great apostle who was chosen to give the message to kings, and to the great men of the earth, said in view of His hoped - for visit to the capital of the world, “I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.” Romans 1.16. The one thing that the entire world is seeking after is power. Some seek it by means of wealth, others through politics, others through learning, and still others in various other ways; but in whatever enterprise men engage, the object is the same, — power of some kind. There is unrest in the heart of every man, an unsatisfied longing, placed there by God Himself. The mad ambition that drives some to trample on scores of their fellow-creatures, the unceasing struggle for wealth, and the reckless round of pleasures into which many plunge, are all vain endeavors to satisfy this longing.
God has not placed in the human heart a longing for any of these things; but the quest for them is a perversion of that desire which He has implanted in the human breast. He desires that man should have His power; but none of the things, which men ordinarily seek, give the power of God.Consequently none of these things satisfy.Men set a limit to the amount of wealth which they will amass, because they think that when that limit is reached they will be satisfied; but when the fixed amount has been gained, they are as unsatisfied as ever; and so they go on seeking for satisfaction by piling up wealth, not realizing that the desire of the heart cannot be met in that manner. He who implanted that desire is the only one who can satisfy it.God is manifested in Christ, and Christ is indeed “the desire of all nations” (Haggai 2.7), although there are so few who will believe that in Him alone is their perfect rest and satisfaction. To every unsatisfied mortal the invitation is given, “O taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.O fear the Lord, ye His saints; for there is no want to them that fear Him.” Psalm 34.8,9. “How precious is Thy loving-kindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge under the shadow of Thy wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of Thy house; and Thou shalt make them drink of the river of Thy pleasures.” Psalm 36.7,8, R.V.
Power is what men desire in this world, and power is what the Lord wants them to have. But the power, which they are seeking, would ruin them, and the power, which He desires them to have, is power that will save them. The Gospel brings to all men this power, and it is nothing less than the power of God.It is for everybody, if they will accept it.Let us study the nature of this power, for when we have discovered it; we shall have before us the whole Gospel.
NOTE TO THE READER. From the Author: Inspiration assures us that in all of the epistles of Paul there are "some things hard to be understood." 2 Pet. 3:16.
Perhaps this is the case with the Epistle to the Romans in a greater degree than with any other. But they are not impossible to be understood, and it is only the "unlearned and unstable" who wrest them unto their own destruction.
Note that it is only those who wrest "the other scriptures" to their own destruction who thus miss the point of Paul's writings. They who have a desire to understand and who read the simple promises of the Bible with profit, will not be among that number.

This is the inspired word of God, and is poetic and sounds wonderful. In many places of the Bible, this version says it the best we believe. This is the first version of the Bible we studied as a child and throughout many points in our life. It is based on the older King's English that some people in our day may not understand, who are not used to reading it.
Many modern translations have issues, because some of their translators have injected modern ideas into them based on their erroneous beliefs that were not contained in it. (Instead of believing what it says, they interpret it to suit their fancy and beliefs.) Any translation of the Bible that gets too far from the King James in English is not best.
The men who translated the King James Version were pious men who were devoted to God, and it shows in their respectful treatment of the word of God in this translation. If a group of translators are not close to God, they will likely make a biased translation. If they don't fully believe what it teaches or have God's transforming power in their lives, human philosophy and other false ideas will creep into it.
This is still one of the best Bibles in English, if not the best, because it is a trustworthy Bible that has stood the test of time - several hundred years.
We are giving you our opinion based on years of study. We have found the King James Version of the Bible to be the inspired word of God. God's voice speaks through this version.

This is the inspired word of God, written in clear modern English which is easier to understand than many of the older translations of the Bible. This is especially true if English is not your first or primary language. This version contains the voice of God to our soul; we have been greatly moved and blessed by this version. Therefore we fully recommend this version for anyone who does not know the older English of the Kings James Bible from England, which was written several hundred years ago.We have studied this Bible for many years, and have found it trustworthy and inspiring! We believe that it will be a blessing to you too, if you read it and allow its words to sink into your soul. It will make the truth clear to you if you wish to know it.
We do not like or trust many of the other newer English versions of the Bible. It is clear that bias and modern erroneous ideas and human philosophy have worked their way into many of the newer translations. But we have found that the New American Standard Bible to be inspiring - not departing from the will of God. We believe it to be the easiest version of the Bible to understand in English, that is also the most accurate, staying the closest to the text of the original languages of the Bible. We believe that it has less translator bias than others. It is important to know what the Bible says, without some people ideas of what it "should say". We want to know what God says, not the teachings of men.
